YouTube TV Expands Cheaper Packages With AMC Channels in New Deal
AMC Global Media confirmed during its second-quarter 2026 earnings release that its linear networks, streaming services, and FAST channels will reach YouTube TV's genre-based packages under a renewed distribution agreement announced July 30.

The deal marks a structural shift for cord-cutters who have watched AMC's portfolio sit outside YouTube TV's lower-cost tiers since the genre packs launched earlier this year. For subscribers weighing a smaller bundle, the addition reshapes the value calculus of YouTube TV's mid-tier offerings.
The carriage scope
AMC CEO Kristin Dolan framed the renewal as a multi-product agreement, encompassing seven streaming services, five linear networks, and a substantial portion of the company's FAST channels through YouTube TV. That breadth carries more weight than the channel count alone: AMC Global Media's portfolio spans AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, and We TV — networks historically anchored to prestige drama and independent film rather than the broad entertainment stack YouTube TV's $54.99-per-month Entertainment Plan already covers through Adult Swim, BET, Bravo, FX, and similar outlets.
The agreement mirrors a parallel renewal with Comcast, part of a 12-month span in which AMC has locked in long-term carriage with four of the top five U.S. multichannel video programming distributors — Comcast, DirecTV, DISH, and YouTube. That posture reads as defensive, executed while traditional pay-TV subs continue migrating toward streaming bundles and carriage leverage shifts toward platforms with scale.
What's still unresolved
AMC has not specified which networks land in which genre packs, nor has the company set a rollout timeline. The genre packages, including Entertainment and Lifestyle tiers, currently exclude AMC's portfolio entirely, a gap that has frustrated scripted-content subscribers on the cheaper plans. The deal also brings FAST channels previously housed on Pluto TV into YouTube TV's distribution footprint, though the operational mechanics of that integration — whether they surface as standalone channels, integrated feeds, or curated lanes — remain unspecified.
Separately, AMC confirmed the entire Walking Dead franchise will stream on AMC+ and Netflix beginning in 2027, with Netflix becoming a permanent home for all spin-offs while the original series arrives on AMC+ for the first time. That parallel content-window arrangement reinforces AMC's distribution thesis: monetize the same library across multiple surfaces rather than concentrate value on a single platform.
What to track
The practical questions for viewers are timing, tier placement, and whether AMC+ retains standalone value once those channels migrate into cheaper genre bundles. Genre packs are typically priced well below YouTube TV's base plan, so the economics depend on whether AMC's networks slot into the existing Entertainment tier or anchor a new scripted-focused package — a structural question AMC has signaled it is open to but has not committed to publicly. As media operators segment distribution rights to extract yield across multiple surfaces, adjacent discussions around RWA tokenization market trends are surfacing in parallel, though the two ecosystems remain largely separate. For now, watch for an explicit channel-list announcement and a launch window from AMC and YouTube TV in the coming quarters.
