It supports the mainstream HDR and streaming-audio experience people actually encounter every day. Just do not buy it expecting the same local-media and receiver-first flexibility as the Shield.
Choose the Walmart Onn 4K Pro if you want the most capable cheap Android TV device without pretending it is something else. It is ideal for replacing a bad smart-TV interface, cutting the cord in a second room, bringing Google TV to a projector, or giving a family member a setup that does not need a lecture before it works. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support give it more picture-format credibility than its price suggests. The slower Ethernet and USB port are the cost of admission, not hidden traps.
The Shield is for the receiver. The Streamer is for the living room. The Onn is for the second TV that deserves better than its built-in software.
